New Med
Forget the name already and it is in the other room. We really felt like we had no choice. PDoc was not forcing it which was good. However, as we tried to decide she did acknowledge concern aoout us leaving without anything. We decided that we couldn't leave without something and are on 1/2 dose of something. she said it was less likely to cause weight gain than SSRIs. Cymbalta! That is what it is. Exclamation point is not one of happiness to be on it. Just memory.

Making this decision has taken a lot of weight off our shoulders. We feel a little better already.

Oh thanks Mosaic! That is good news. Did you have that issue on other meds? Never been on something that did not cause gain long term.

Yes we gained a lot on both prozac and paxil and other meds we cannot even remember the names of it gooes so far back. With some we would lose for a bit and then balloon.

RE: New Med
i hope this helps. I do not gain weight on SSRIs. I never tried cymbalta. I hope it is good for you because it sucks being sick and feeling like crappy crap. That is how we feel without medicines. Like crappy crap yuck.

The People....Hope things work out with the Cymbalta.

All....Cymbalta is an SNRI, which means it adjusts norepinephrine as well as serotonin. Effexor is another SNRI. SNRIs are often prescribed for people who try SSRIs first and don't experience sufficient relief from their depression symptoms.

Wikipedia Article - SNRIs

We had taken Prozac for over 10 years when started to make us feel agitated. We tried Effexor for a year, and it was too much med for us. Then we tried Zoloft (another SSRI) for three years. It was was better for us than Effexor but not as good as Prozac.

So we went back to Prozac, but at a lower dose, and this turned out to be the best decision of all. If only we had figured this out four years sooner, we would have saved ourselves a lot of problems. But the important thing is that we're doing better now.
