I have already covered the one about remembering to put coffee in the filter before adding water.
#2 Before trying to figure out why the machine is not working properly, fidgeting with it an deciding that it is broken, check your work area to see if you haven't already poured a cup for yourself!

works for me except when discovering it's already been finished and can't remember if the empty cup is from today or yesterday..
