What about a collection of things that represent where you live? For example, I live in Alberta Canada. I could get a fridge magnet of the wild rose which is our provincial flower and a pin with the maple leaf on it. stuff like that. That way it could be small enough to send. You could also take photos of special places for you and put them in a small book. Beside each photo you could explain why it is special. Maybe at the end you could have a photo or something that reminds you of him and explain why you think he is special.
