Broken - FreyasSpirit - 10-14-2015

We are broken. Broken is something we self identify as. We view it as an important part of our identity. We told this to our therapist and she asked questions and explored what being broken meant to us. We said that calling ourselves broken allowed us to respect our limits and helps ensure that we do not push ourselves harder than we should. It also helps us to remind ourselves that just because neurotypicals or those around us are capable of doing something, it does not mean that we are able to do the same.

In the end, she concluded that our identification as broken contains boundaries. This is something which is so simple and elegant and provides more language to describe why we identify as broken than we previously had. It makes us happy that our therapist is both willing to ask these questions and able to draw conclusions and give us new language to work with. She is by far the best therapist we have ever had Smile
