He hasn't called back. We might do up a quick note and drop it in his mail box. He might think I am looking for someone to fix my dying computer. I don't know him all that well but it worth the risk.

I don't like the idea of emails. too much loss of control and privacy.

Still working on this.

This disappeared and then reappeared. So I assume that we are continuing with the discussion.

Way back someone in this system vetoed the idea of emails. Interestingly, as I came to the discussion I was actually thinking about emails.

People know they have left an email when they registered. Some people are very shy. It would have to be approached sensitively but I now think this may be a way to bring people back who have only stopped by a few times. It is a way of letting them know we are a community that cares.

Something else that I thought of is 3D community bulletin boards in mental health centres. Where I see my pdoc the was is filled with adverts for groups and supports. I could create something simple and slip it in there on a day that I go and see her. The trick is to do it when the place is empty. A rarity. There must be other places around town and in mental health magazines where we could post. I wonder if Psychology Today would do a quick story on us?

Thanks for the idea. Just FYI, this thread is pinned to the top of the board so that people can continue to add to it.

As a community member, we'd favor any reasonable effort to get the word out to more people about MM. Let's see if anyone else has any thoughts.

As regards getting email alerts for responses to threads, it's a matter of going to your Control Panel (User CP) and selecting the third option. Then any time you reply to a thread, it defaults to that option. You can always change it if you don't want to be notified for a specific thread. Has setting the default at your control panel not always worked?

As regards sending an email to members occasionally, I think that could work as long as the email is worded well and they are assured that their email address is secure and MM is just hoping to see them participate. I don't have other suggestions at this point but will give it some thought.

As regards someone who knows this software, I do not. However, my paid job is as a business systems analyst and I have some old programming experience. So it's possible I could figure things out if there were a tutorial, user guide or other such help available from the software company who created it.

I'd definitely like an email. I have memory issues...
