explaining what triggers are
my best friend is really trying to understand did and help with littles etc but, we do hit a wall repeately. he thinks that when we get triggered its because we think he is like Mr X and Mrs Y ( the fidiots who caused our DID). or he thinks we get triggered because we dont trust him. nothing could be further from the truth. but, every time we are triggered S pulls away emotionally and goes into a shell and it takes forever to get him back out. any thoughts on telling him its not him if we get triggered. weve tried everything we can think of thanks

RE: explaining what triggers are
sounds like he's got his own stuff to work through - like, when you get triggered maybe he feels rejected or something like that? sounds like you've explained enough times so maybe tune into what he's feeling and ask what's going on with him that he pulls away like that..
