Question  Favicon?
Lea: Any plans for installing a favicon? We could design one if you want.

RE: Favicon?
A favicon would be great! Will you design us some smilies also? You have some good ones.

Yep, we can take a crack at it. Let us know in the other Favicon thread what you'd like.

RE: Favicon?
Next time you start your browser, people should see the new favicon (I had to restart to see it).

Thank you MDs!

Thank you MDs!

Yay! Saw it in Firefox. Don't see it in IE8 yet. We know there's something wonky about IE and how it displays favicons. Plus we had set an icon from shell32.dll for MM on our IE8 Favorites bar.

If anyone has any ideas on how to make the MM favicon show up under the above conditions, let us know.

It's the tiny (and often customized) icon that you see next to a particular page on Bookmarks/Favorites. Next to your MM link you should see this:

That is (with some format tweaking by Lea) our handiwork. Big Grin

We just checked our Temporary Internet Files folder for IE8, and favicon.ico for MM is not there. We re-set our MM link in our Links toolbar to the standard IE icon, hoping that the MM favicon would show up, but it hasn't. Maybe we should clear Temporary Internet Files and re-load.

RE: Favicon?
Try clearing cache. We had to exit out of our browser entirely.

We just tried IE9 and it works. I'm not familiar with what weird things happen in IE8.

Click the compatibility icon? (This solved one of Symphony's issues)

Reboot?

Just did all of the above, except upgrade to IE9. Our nine-year-old dinosaur can barely load IE8. Undecided

We had Compatibility View disabled, but we enabled it temporarily to see if it would help. It didn't, unfortunately. We also rebooted, but that didn't help, either.

Anyone else using IE8? Can you see the favicon next to your MM link?

Thanks for the validation. Helps us to know that we're not the only one.

RE: Favicon?
Indeed I found a long thread of woe about IE8 and favicons

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/iewebdevelopment/thread/a6fb09ef-aa3e-4e9e-be44-edbfad322657

MD, can you create a fresh .ico and send it to me. One of the things that seems to happen is if you convert to .ico from another format, IE8 won't pick it up. So let's try that.

I have my work laptop with me at home, but I refuse to open it before Tuesday. :p
