Howdy,
Saw the suspicious email in our inbox. We're lousy at checking email, so we weren't taken in by it.
The person in question (someone in your address book) has had their email account infected by a spammer/virus. It causes everyone in your friend's address book (including you) to receive the spam, in hope that you'll reply and thereby perpetuate the spam/virus chain.
Our solution:
Click Reply (not Reply All), but don't send the message.
In the "To" box, delete your friend's email and re-type it manually.
Change the subject line to "Your Email Account Is Sending Spam."
Then send the reply.
Hopefully this will alert the recipient to the problem.
(If anyone here has any other suggestions/experience, please chime in.)

I will file your kernel of computer wisdom. Had already answered the thing and then dumped it when delivery difficulty indicated even to my naive brain that I had been had. Got another delivery difficulty notice today, sent it off to the land of spam, and deleted it.
I'm usually very resistant to spam attempts, and should have been to this one. However, am encountering so much utter insanity in the world, that for a bit the weird (that email) was part of a larger norm. ahem. I am drawing attention to this because if it can happen to me, it can........
I'll give an example of what has me turned upside down on Health Center board.
I'm beginning to think that humanity needs a population of Border Collies to herd us, those who agree to live cooperatively with respect for individualism, to better pastures.

We have had this happen as well. Guess it is the new spam. Only mine showed up on my phone as well as I have a blackberry. This was about diet pills and I would be insulted and worried about her (thin) if it was real. but it was not.

The email spam thingy also recently happened to two other people that we know in 3D. Both family members. One is our second cousin, who was AFK for a bit, and she solved the problem when she came back online. More recently, our SIL's parents' account had the problem. Our brother is going to take a look at it sometime this weekend.
